Jo d'Orville

Film and Media Studies

Jo d'Orville is a photographer with an interest in the female body, life and relationships. Grotesque, Vulgar and Abject: Representations of the Female Body explores the expectations and beliefs of the public and opinions of the natural body. d'Orville's work has been inspired by the likes of Jo Spence and Charlotte Jansen while using feminist theories to explore the grotesque body that is unseen within the media. This piece will attempt to evoke emotion within the viewer and help them to question their own assumptions of what makes a woman feminine and what makes her female.
