Food is an integral part of living. We are constantly buying produce to sustain ourselves, however, as a country we are still wasting 1/3 of all food that is produced. Fruits and vegetables are plants and living things, but often we forget this as the produce we see in supermarkets is either wrapped in plastic, frozen or pre-chopped for us. My design practise focuses on the ‘re-‘. with the meaning “again” or “again and again”. By re-purposing jars and re-growing our vegetable scraps in water, we can adopt a circular system in order to form a sustainable lifestyle. Jardin enables users to gain a sense of accomplishment from growing their own food, without the need for outdoor space.
