My name's Matt Connolly. I'm an Undergrad for BA Animation at the Manchester School of Art. I specialise in 2D animation and illustration. I'm inspired by work of contempory comic book artists such as Daniel Clowes and Robert Crumb as well as more established names such as Alan Moore and Frank Miller. In my work, i like to play with the fundimentals of minimalism and implement ideas from much more conventional styles of cartooning. Taking inspiration from cartoonists like Ralph Bakshi who utilises his practice, creating boyish animation suitable for younger audiences, to tell gritty, picturesque stories, highlighting the absurdities of the world that most are familiar with.
