Textiles in Practice

Having a new passion for 3D embroidery has inspired my practice to become more adventurous. I have been pushed out of my comfort zone from creating small detailed A4 samples to larger scale pieces. Working with a mixture of sculpture, tufting and furniture which opened my mind to the mixture of possibilities.

My most recent collection of tufted pieces is inspired by the 1970’s Groove scene in Manchester when the Reno Night Club was poppin’. Tufting is a form of embroidery which enables me to create unique textures and mixes of colour. The repeated shape of the Greater Manchester map is used throughout my designs.
