BA (Hons) Textiles in Practice
My practice as a woven textile designer predominantly focuses around colour and geometric shapes allowing the interaction between these to form narratives. I design for an interiors context. I take much of my inspiration from the Bauhaus, responding to this through a blend of expressive mark making against linear yarn wraps. I enjoy working with densely set silks to create luxury interior fabrics. Whilst I am intrigued by the potential of bamboo and pineapple fibres hold as sustainable solutions.
Reversibility is an integral part of my practice; I aim to reduce fast consumerism by creating investment pieces which combine two designs into a single piece of cloth. Recently I have expanded my investigation into colour through natural dying to become more sustainable which I hope to continue developing upon graduation.
