To describe the theme of my painting practice simply, it is a reflection of my personal experiences and aspirations attached to them. The rooms convey an experience that the viewer could have if they were able to enter that space, one that is defined by the style of fittings, shapes of objects, the placement of the viewer within the room, as well as the colour, lighting and structure of the room itself. This is something which we feel unconsciously in any space we sit, different settings and materials will inform us of an expectation of our behaviour within that space.

My work is ultimately about a balance between involvement and detachment with different scenes and spaces in life.
