BA (Hons) Textiles in Practice
As a Material Alchemist I have always been drawn to the texture and finish of materials. My practice explores recreating luxury finishes at a more affordable cost. Emulating the natural beauty of organic forms through creative and innovative processes, I use mixed media to amalgamate soft and hard surfaces to create a sensory experience.
My work this year has addressed modern ways of reinterpreting luxury organic and linear forms through selective mixed media processes, for premium interiors. The intention is to direct the viewers emotions through colour, material, and finish. These decisions are an emotion catalyst which effect how a consumer values a product. Being able to emulate what we value as luxury, while reducing manufacturing cost and environmental impact, all the while increasing production turn around is what the future demands. It’s important we utilise emerging technologies to tackle a circular economy, one being optimising 3D print and using and developing recycled filaments.
My goal is to continue building a luxury sustainable CMF library, finding work within a CMF design or a material research and development role. I look forward to continuing to develop my innovations and gain specialist knowledge within 3D printed textiles as new technologies immerge.
