BA (Hons) Textiles in Practice
As a mixed media textile designer, I enjoy working with unconventional materials and pushing the boundaries with my practice. I have a great appreciation for traditional techniques such as beading and hand embroidery and thrive when combining both aspects within my work. I enjoy contrasting soft and hard materials to create new surfaces and have recently been involving smart textiles through the use of lighting in my work to add further dimension. Throughout my practice I have applied these techniques to a fashion context, focusing on haute couture and costume as I believe these areas encourage creative freedom and allow designers to be experimental with their designs.
