This project is heavily influenced by queer culture. My practice explores fashion photography with the LGBTQ+ community, which is renowned for pushing the boundaries of predefined societal gender norms in fashion. The LGBTQ+ community thrive, and feel their most comfortable, expressing their true sense of self through fashion. My photography utilizes the gender euphoria movement through use of bright colours and fashion, to exhibit gender expression of the subject. This creates a safe space for the subject, allowing them to feel completely comfortable during the shoot. An influential artist for my work is Nan Goldin, through the process in which she shoots her images and how she portrays her subjects. I have constantly refered back to her work as I wanted to do justice to the brave LGBTQ+ community as she has.
