The foundation of my practice is built on observation and drawing. As a mixed-media creative who focuses on honest mark-making with notions of memory with aspects of reportage drawing of subjects such as animals, people, objects, and space. Fuelled by my connection with the earth and humanity, with an awareness of our mortality and our existence in a greater cosmos. My practice has become centred around a journey of me building my visual language as it is my form of communication, I have faced personal struggles to find my voice. My dyslexia has created barriers within this, as the traditional written language is not my natural tongue. I have been on this journey of learning how I take on challenges and absorb information. This has been extremely liberating and has given me the confidence to take on new challenges. Drawing enables an active imagination as it begins a connection between the mind, thought and the physical world. Using an image as a form of communication, storytelling, and education has been crucial for understanding the world since the Middle Stone Age. I have been looking into the field of facilitation as I have a passion to guide others in finding their voice and language. I believe everyone has such a unique way of encountering their world, and everyone should have the opportunity to celebrate this proudly. Uplifting the individuals that have been told they can't have a voice. Subsequently, I am taking part in an internship with 'Starling' whose vision is ‘To create a neuro-inclusive world. Thinking differently as standard’.
