Marlena Jolkowicz
BA (Hons) Textiles in Practice
As a colour and material designer my final year has been focusing on creating a material library to aid in compacting the future material crisis. My passion for material innovation stems from being aware of the material waste and long-term sustainability challenges that both present and future generations face. My practice involves using my knitting skills and material manipulation to challenge material intended use, developing material solutions for interior, fashion and footwear.
Futurverse collection investigates the theme of space looking into the future, exploring the potentials of bio foam and bio plastics, including how they may be pushed and explored via materiality, while taking into account their breadth of application, usage, and limits. Considering the relationship between the rise in digitalisation and the physical world. The collection reflects this with a finish that adapts to light and the environment to create a unique and ever-changing effect. I am eager to continue developing my practice and to gain experience through internships.
