BA (Hons) Textiles in Practice

Zofia Roginska

As a print designer my work is largely driven by colour and shape, with the concept being informed by social commentary. I am inspired by communities local to me and often create work based on solutions to the problems they’re facing. I am passionate about community art projects especially within marginalised groups, which is why I volunteer teaching vulnerable women craft and delivering textile workshops, as part of a charity for women experiencing domestic violence. In addition, studying in lockdown has led me to look at the idea of comfort through different perspectives as restrictions changed. My last project focused on comfort food and the participants’ association around it, from the participants responses I developed a textural quilted blanket based on the responses. My aim is to create humorous designs for soft furnishings, which convey the idea of comfort and safe space.
