A Legacy of Innovation

As we celebrate 200 years of creative excellence at Manchester Metropolitan University, we’re proud to present the work of our current students, while reflecting on the rich history that has shaped our institution into a beacon of innovation and creativity. Manchester School of Art, established in 1838 within the Royal Manchester Institution (now Manchester Art Gallery), has long been at the forefront of art and design education. Originally founded to meet the design needs of the city, the school has evolved to encompass a wide range of creative disciplines.

Creativity as a Catalyst for Change

The Degree Show celebrates the ingenuity and vision of our students, who are poised to make significant contributions to the creative industries. Through their work, emerging artists and designers use creativity as a tool to inform, inspire, and enhance society. This showcase serves as a platform for them to showcase their talent and innovation, highlighting their potential to shape the future, as their forebears have before them.

A School for the City

From its inception, our art school has nourished the creative needs of Manchester. Today, it continues to evolve, feeding the city's creativity and its burgeoning digital industries.

Our investment in new facilities like the School of Digital Arts (SODA) and the restoration of historic spaces such as Grosvenor West underscores our commitment to fostering both traditional and contemporary forms of creativity.

We invite you to explore the work of our class of 2024, where the past meets the future, and creativity knows no bounds. Join us in celebrating the next generation of artists and designers who are ready to leave their mark on the world.
