AFFECTED by ADDICTION

This work draws on my own personal experiences and those of others. It illustrates how photography can convey the emotions of family members affected by a loved one’s addiction. Addiction impacts the whole family, leading to chronic stress, anxiety and depression. Stigma and shame causes social isolation and communication breakdown within families.

I don’t see myself as a traditional photographer. My work is heavily influenced by my background in graphic design, advertising and art direction. Photography is a visual thread that weaves through my life, connecting my work, family, feelings, and emotions. It is a constant companion and a driving force behind my exploration of the world.

Experiencing diverse places, languages, and cultures has broadened my perspective. Photography is my medium for capturing this diversity. My subjects range from strangers and skeleton leaves to cigarette ends, clouds, and everything in between.
