Ordovician

My practice relies on the exploration of Welsh rocks in the Llŷn Peninsula. Research has led to the understanding that volcanic activity is responsible for the birth of the shapes and formations of the rocks in the Llŷn Peninsula. Drawing from this research this has formed the materials and processes of my practice. The process of ceramics coincides with the formation of the Welsh rocks. The colour and textures on the Welsh rocks are enhanced by living things such as lichen and moss. My work has the texture of small hole indentations which have been individually hand created. This repetitive motion cannot be simplified and reflects the time of the formation of rocks.
