Donna Berwick - MFA Painting
Paintings
Having had a previous career as an actor/musician, Donna came to painting quite late in life, only recently completing an MFA at Manchester Art School. She works in oils. Donna obliterates, merges, reconstructs and reforms each layer of the painting until it feels resolved. Through mark-making and blending colour, tone and shape she aims to enhance reflective surfaces, using light and shade to provide a vibrancy, a theatrical edge, and a presence. Her paintings blend classical realism with modern formalism, offering both realistic depictions of real objects and abstract compositions of light, shade and colour. In her most recent work, she has created a series of paintings inspired through her personal explorations of solitude, remembrance and childhood memory.
