Ian Norris - MA Painting
I work on numerous paintings at a time which range in scale from small to large. Drawings from observation or memory inform the work, but essentially my work emerges from the physical process of painting.
My painting process embraces chance, spontaneity, and modification and may contain multiple applications of paint which create texture and layers. I regularly paint over entire sections of the painting or scrape back layers to unveil a variety of colours and textures in the depths of the board or canvas.
