Nostalgia

I chose the theme nostalgia because as an artist accustomed to the ever-changing nature of life, creating art inspired by my past allows me to capture a moment in time and transform it into a lasting, permanent object. I explored this theme through three-dimensional and two-dimensional art forms, drawing inspiration from childhood experiences and contemporary artists discovered via social media. Artists such as; Haley Greco (known for her oil paintings of landscapes, seascapes and dreamy cloudscapes), Damian Goidich (acknowledged for his evocative charcoal drawings that explores the theme of memory, perception, and the human psyche), and Alberto Mielgo (recognised for his visually striking and innovative work in animation, blending 2D and 3D techniques to create highly detailed painterly visuals). By delving into the theme of nostalgia and exploring various mediums such as videography, mixed media, and oil painting, I have been able to express complex emotions rooted in personal and universal experiences. My work is about using the themes of family and the process of growing up to create an emotional impact for the audience because it connects to universal human experiences, thus triggering the emotional responses of reminiscence, joy, sadness and even reflection on their own life.
