Laura Sheridan - BA (Hons) Graphic Design
Hey! I’m Laura, After a good few years raising kids and unfulfilling employment, I decided I needed to get back to being ME. Graphic design has always been a huge ambition, so graduating with a strong knowledge of print design, branding and conceptual thinking is a great achievement. I am a multidisciplinary designer who loves everything editorial, art direction and the creation of visual identities. I have recently found a love for cultural sector work, visualising spaces and bringing them to life after designing the graphic design degree show 'THIS IS THE PLACE' with a small team.
I am also very proud to have won a space in the vertical gallery, which is a launch for a community representing creative mothers in the design industry. The Motherload thrusts taboo subjects into the forefront, as creative mums struggle to sustain identities, whilst simultaneously try to navigate childcare access, creative freedom and relevance. This is a launch to give us a platform, a voice and raising awareness of the still ever-present challenges, as we try to sustain ourselves and every aspect of family life. Unfiltered and unapologetic, it includes powerful quotes from 8 mothers in the design industry. Alongside, sits a self-published magazine that includes the interviews, symbolised art direction and statistics. Creating community and allowing a safe space to talk honestly and finally start to make a change.
