Mahrokh Mofidnakhaei - MA Painting
For me, painting is like a therapeutic exercise. Through glazing and layering with oil paint, I practice patience, which allows me to find calm and focus. When I paint, it makes me aware of being present with the object. By constantly observing the subject I want to paint, I feel it, touch it, and become more mindful of living in the moment. My paintings are the result of that look. Suffering or enjoying the passage of time and the presence or absence of memories are the main concepts of my paintings, which are deeply influenced by my background, experiences, and emotions in my life.
In addition to painting, drawing is also crucial to my practice. It allows me to explore spontaneity and improvisation, which often lead to unexpected discoveries that I incorporate into my paintings or leave as finished drawings on their own.
