Yasaman Mollasalehi - MA Painting
In my paintings, I have created a landscape where one can walk with ease and breathe in the expanse of memories. Through my art, I explore the shifting nature of memory and time, capturing their fluidity on the canvas by building various layers of oil paint and washing some of them with turpentine and oil, and then repainting from scratch.
From a young age, I have been captivated by the interplay of light, vibrant colour, and form. Over the years, the creative process has become my constant companion. My work draws deeply from Persian Miniatures, architecture, nature, people, and the essence of memories, weaving these elements into a visual dialogue that resonates with the human experience. Each painting is a meditation on the balance between the material and the ephemeral, the tangible and the emotional.
I seek a personal modernism that also carries a sense of identity. My goal is to create work that transcends cultural boundaries, fostering empathy and understanding among diverse audiences, and inviting viewers to reflect on the shared beauty, resilience, and connection found in our human journey.
