The Lost Temple
For this project, I constructed an abandoned Chinese temple, drawing inspiration from historical architecture and religious iconography. The modelling process was carried out in Blender, where I modelled and assembled modular assets that reflect traditional temple structures, including carved panels, incense burners, and statuary platforms. Texturing was completed in Substance Painter, allowing for detailed surface treatments such as aged wood, oxidized metals, and weathered stone—each contributing to the temple’s narrative of neglect and temporal decay. Once textured, the assets are imported into Unreal Engine 5, where I compiled the environment using dynamic lighting, volumetric fog, vegetation and spatial composition to evoke a sense of sacred abandonment. The integration of AI-generated Buddhist paintings and 3D-scanned statuary further enhances the cultural authenticity of the space.
