Aliya Farakh King - MFA Painting
Aliya Farakh a visual artist of mixed Pakistani, English, and Northern Irish heritage, with a practice rooted in painting. Aliya’s work explores themes of identity, nostalgia, and belonging, shaped by her lived experience growing up in the peak district.
Movement and fluidity are elements Aliya explores within her work, influenced by her background in dance. Additionally, she’s inspired by the emotional intensity expressed by female actresses in horror films, capturing the moments of fear or unease.
Through my practice, she’s building a painterly space between cultures and religions, a place to reflect on my heritage, navigate my mixed identity, connect with art traditions while including aspects of my personal interest.
