Fetish Object

I am a performer, writer and artist who makes intimate solo work with a focus on themes of identity, derealization and explosive insecurity through a metaphorical lens.

Fetish Object is an art class/performance based upon the myth of Pygmalion and the Statue from Ovid's Metamorphoses, the story of a statue brought to life to act as the bride of the man who sculpted her. It explores the objectification inherent in being "made" by a master craftsman, the lack of a self that comes from being born fully grown, and the difficulty of trying to express yourself through art when there is nothing for you to express.

Fetish Object is a part of a group of pieces I have made using the medium of a presentation/teaching format in order to explore the objectification and disconnect from self that is a key part of the modern transfeminine experience. Previous pieces have included A Theoretical Framework of the Angelic: A Lecture in Five Parts and Romance (the latter developed in collaboration with director Holly Lambert).
