Ayushi Manhas - MA Interiors
The Crossing Place
Over the past five years, my journey in interior design has been about more than just learning to design spaces, it has been about learning to design for people. From hospitals to schools and community hubs, each project has challenged me to think about how interiors can shape lives, and each one has left me with something valuable to carry forward.
What has always inspired me is the idea of creating spaces that feel alive - places that speak to their context, their people, and their purpose. In my last thesis, I designed a premium airport lounge, where I explored the themes of travel and transit, and how even in a fleeting moment, a space can leave a lasting impression on its users.
During my MA, I turned to the idea of community and discovered how interiors can give life to empty buildings, turning them into places of belonging, growth, and connection.
This final thesis is a way of weaving those threads together, bringing my fascination with travel and movement together with my belief in community and shared experience. It is a project that feels like the natural continuation of my design journey so far, and one that reflects the values I hold closest.
