Cecile Driver - BA (Hons) Textiles in Practice

'Three-Layer Sandwich' is a conceptual project aimed at developing a series of samples that explore 2D–3D woven fabrics. The samples are made on a Dobby loom using four warps across three beams, using base weave structures to determine cloth positioning and monofilament fibers for structural stability.

My final project is inspired by innovative 3D weaving techniques used to create functional fabrics, as well as my passion for extreme textiles designed for real-world applications. I'm particularly interested in the wide range of industries where constructed textiles can be applied. My approach to design is shaped by a deep appreciation for traditional craftsmanship, combined with a love for modular design—not just in textiles, but across all areas of design. This perspective influences how I create and collaborate, with a strong focus on problem-solving through both research and hands-on making, which I find to be the most valuable part of the process.
