Get In My Shoes
When someone says they are visually impaired, many people assume its an inconvenience, something minor as the individual still has sight, some neglect the social and emotional impact, others simplify it to ‘with distance comes blurriness’. Cerys wanted to use her art, not only as a cathartic release of emotion, but to generate a better understanding of the disabled community. Cerys creates a variety of everyday situations through her vision/experience, encouraging the viewer to step in her shoes, a night out, a sunny day and a fitness class turned unrecognisable to the mundane eye. Beginning with an outburst of vibrant gestures, these acrylic pieces are then digitally adapted into stop motion animations that flow off the canvas and into the viewers surroundings, an immersive and educational experience.
