Being
'Being' emerged from observing things that appeared before me, even when not fully understood. The installation's foundations are beeswax and calico. I encountered calico through making canvases; as piles accumulated in my studio, I became fascinated by its unruly properties when ripped, with its combination of threads and folds. I felt the need to freeze the fabric's form, which I achieved using beeswax. The installation is designed to be immersive, allowing you to walk inside. I want to convey the same feeling I experienced while creating it: as you step into the work, you become entangled in my web of beeswax and calico, surrounded by the piece. This is not meant to be distressing, but rather a calming embrace.
