I'm a documentary photographer who's work has most recently focused on the concept of Biophillia. Biophilia is the innate human connection to nature, something that is close to me. MY recent work has a particular focus on water as both subject and medium. Water, as an element, is a life-sustaining source that holds emotional resonance, which I want my project to resonate. Through my work I am to highlight it’s role in our wellbeing, deepening the bond we have to it. For a medium, I chose to work with Cyanotypes, a printing process that itself is reliant on water. The cyanotypes reliance on the natural elements (sunlight, water and time) mirrors the organic process I want to show through my exploration of nature. Water has shaped every stage of my process, not just the theme but as a tool for printing.
Each image I create I wish to tell a story through, I wish to immerse viewers into the environment encouraging them to visit these places and taking the time to reconnect back with our roots to nature. This project invites viewers to feel the impact of water in it’s many forms, and to reflect on the essential role it plays in both the environment and our inner being.
A lot of my other work includes documenting my surroundings and experimenting with different forms of analog photography.
