Opulent Overload

Opulence Overload is a womenswear ready-to-wear luxury collection that celebrates maximalism through a playful and imaginative lens. Inspired by the ornate beauty of antique furniture, the collection merges playful, feminine silhouettes, with technical details. Drawing on the rich textures and sculptural qualities of vintage interiors, each look is designed to evoke a sense of luxury while remaining wearable and relevant.

At the heart of the collection is a conscious approach to materiality. I used natural fibres and sourced deadstock materials throughout the development process, embracing sustainability without compromising on visual impact. These fabric choices allowed for a rich interplay of texture and movement, echoing the craftsmanship and material integrity found in antique design.

Opulence Overload combines exaggerated volumes and soft forms with structured, functional elements. My placement at Portwest as a design assistant informed many of the technical details and construction techniques seen in the collection. It gave me valuable insight into performance-led design, which I integrated subtly to enhance durability and wearability.

To develop my ideas, I utilized Gerber and CLO3D, which enabled me to explore silhouette, fit, and proportion digitally before translating designs into final garments. I have used industry based softwares such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and Procreate to create technical specifications, layplans, and design boards. I also employed a range of industrial machinery, experimenting with stitch types, seam finishes, and fabric manipulation to bring technical depth and polish to each look.

Above all, I wanted the collection to be joyful—a celebration of excess, femininity, and conscious creativity. Opulence Overload challenges the idea that luxury must be minimal. Instead, it invites the wearer into a world where sustainability meets imagination, and where clothing becomes a dynamic, expressive, and indulgent experience.
