Georgia May Louise Burkitt - MA Graphic Design and Art Direction
Bringing Midlands punk rock up to the North West, I’m a Stokie image maker based in Manchester. My work aims to preserve D.I.Y. art approaches through digital processes; paying homage to alternative cultures that were founded amongst Britain’s working-class.
My final MA project explores working-class subcultures and their impact on modern design. I work hands-on; scanning walls, pavements, toilet doors and ceilings to capture real world examples of human mark-making, such as graffiti, flyposting and sticker-bombing. This approach brings me closer to my work, allowing me to explore venues, streets and alleyways in search of the unusual and discreet ways that alternative creatives use to communicate with each other out in the wild.
