Interlace: The Fusion of Knitted Textiles and 3D Print

I would call myself a knitted textiles designer and 3D print innovator. I like to work with colour and pattern this is something that interests me.As a designer, I blend traditional knitted textiles with cutting-edge 3D printing to create tactile, engaging samples that showcase both colour and pattern. Using Shima Seiki knitting machines and Stratasys 3D printers, I design pieces that are visually captivating and interactive to the touch. My creative process begins with carefully crafted knit patterns, which I then enhance with 3D printed elements, seamlessly combining two distinct techniques. My work is heavily influenced by my travels in Thailand, where I was inspired by the intricate patterns, and textures I encountered in the local markets, temples, and landscapes. These inspirations are reflected in my designs through bold, geometric patterns and vibrant colour schemes that pay homage to Thai culture. The tactile nature of knitted textiles is elevated by the futuristic, sculptural possibilities of 3D printing, resulting in pieces that are both organic and avant-garde. I envision these samples within the context of high-end knitwear and forward-thinking fashion, exploring the potential of clothing that blends technology with artistry. By merging the warmth and texture of knit fabrics with the precision and versatility of 3D printing, I create large-scale samples that push the boundaries of traditional fashion.
