Cut Fingers
Hello, my name is Harry.
For the past four years, I’ve been creating films here at the School of Digital Arts. I’ve been involved in a breadth of work—diverse, challenging, and always informative. With every project, I’ve thrown myself in completely, approaching each one with curiosity and ingenuity. The final piece I created for my entry into the Degree Show was no different.
This was a film I spent a year developing—a year of meticulous planning, relentless work ethic, and a level of dedication and professionalism that demanded constant engagement. I wouldn’t have been able to achieve what I did without the passionate love I have for film, a love that has carried me through this entire journey.
Cut Fingers is a film that transcends logic and reason, yet invites belief and interpretation. I wanted to create something that makes you look twice, something that challenges how you think and feel. A film that opens itself to many readings, many perspectives—something that sparks conversation and invites opinion. These are the kinds of films that excite me, and I’ve tried to build that same energy into the structure of this work.
I spent months developing the script, drawing on my experience from creative writing courses. As director, it was also my responsibility to ensure every element—from the sound design to production design to editing—aligned with the absurd, offbeat tone at the heart of the film. It was a massive undertaking, but one I approached with clarity and ferocity.
Thanks for stopping by—I hope you enjoy the film.
