Jasmine Anderson - BA (Hons) Textiles in Practice

I am a mixed-media, textile artist exploring identity, trauma and self-reclamation through large-scale, layered embroidery and fabric manipulation. My work examines the complexities of healing, using distortion, abstraction and layering to reflect the fragmented sense of self that follows trauma. By working with free-motion embroidery and mixed-media textiles, I create immersive installations that challenge perception, encouraging viewers to engage with shifting perspectives- both visually and emotionally. Inspired by the physical and emotional imprints trauma leaves on the body, I experiment with techniques such as painting, printing, cyanotyping and embroidery to explore themes of vulnerability, resilience and self-repair. Through my practice, I push the boundaries of textile art to foster empathy, provoke dialogue and challenge how trauma narratives are represented in contemporary art.
