Another Black Square
Katy Arragon's work operates at the intersection of Suprematist abstraction and contemporary material practice, drawing on the legacy of Kazimir Malevich's Black Square while grounding her compositions in the tactile realities of the present. Her practice explores the tension between form and void, precision and decay, urban rhythm and natural entropy. Working primarily with raw, organic materials such as clay, stone, reclaimed wood as well as elements sourced from industrial and environmental landscapes, Arragon constructs minimal yet evocative pieces that challenge the viewer to reconsider space, texture, and visual weight.
