His own skin
Kav’s work explores queer culture and the representation of the male nude, focusing on vulnerability, intimacy, and identity. Through expressive painting, he challenges dominant ideas of masculinity by presenting moments of softness, emotion, and exposure. Influenced by gender theory and politics of the gaze, Kav examines the tension between human nature and the complex relationship men have with their sexuality. Colour plays a central role in his practice, and through a vibrant palette of reds, blues, pinks, and oranges, he communicates emotional depth. These saturated, psychological spaces blur the boundary between body and environment – creating portraits that invite reflection on how queer and male bodies are seen, felt, and understood.
