Madeleine Brandt - BA (Hons) Textiles in Practice
My practice centers on creating floral illustrated repeat patterns and intricately blending them with traditional embroidery techniques to develop unique, luxury textile designs. Watercolour is my favorite medium for illustrating floral motifs, as it captures the delicate and fluid nature of flowers in a soft and vibrant way.
I have always been heavily inspired by the textures and natural forms of flowers, allowing their organic shapes and vibrant colours to form my work. I love how flowers grow in so many different shapes and colours, and I use these natural forms to guide my designs. The natural world’s textures and forms are my main source of creativity. My love for texture drives me to experiment with different techniques, blending digital illustration with embroidery to create a balance of traditional and modern design.
Colour is a key part of my design process. I enjoy combining soft, earthy tones with brighter, more vibrant colors to create a natural but lively feel. This mix brings warmth and energy to my patterns while keeping them connected to nature. The mix of lively tones and detailed textures create patterns that brighten any space. Through my designs, I aim to create textiles that celebrate nature, bringing color and life to any room while reflecting the natural world that inspires me.
