Marina Latzanaki - MA Graphic Design and Art Direction
In the modern times we live in, design, and graphic design specifically, is everywhere around us. I have always been thinking, analysing the world around me and creatively working in a visual way. This is what led me to study photography and eventually graphic design and art direction. My coursework provided me with the ability to experiment and discover new design and illustration techniques as well as think as a designer. I have always been keen on design, and now, after this last academic experience, I use my imagination and technical skills to create content that visually expresses concepts or texts. My photography skills and experience have certainly affected the way I design today. Minimalism is a style I am partial to, both in design and photography, where choosing less complex ways to represent the subject can be quite effective. The way I demonstrate each project I work on, starts by thinking of it as a visual story and then I begin my designs, by digitally drawing, shading and mastering the composition. Experimentation is the key for me to accomplish a satisfactory result for the purpose it has been created. There is a lot of research being made for this to happen, as in order to achieve an individual style in art, it is significant to have seen a considerable amount of work made by other designers, photographers and artists in general. In order to attain the optimal results, I do combine my knowledge and experiences in art, so that the final outcome can be aesthetically good as well as versatile.
