Let Yue Opera become daily jewelry
When creating the ring and hairpin, I chose the magnolia flower, a common flower in Yue Opera costumes and my hometown, as the primary motif, adding bamboo as a secondary element. In Chinese culture, magnolia and bamboo symbolize different virtues. Through these designs, I not only aim to reinterpret Yue Opera elements into everyday jewelry, but also to embody and convey China's virtuous character. This shawl is inspired by the traditional Chinese dress "Yun Jian." The embroidery and fabric patterns are inspired by the decorative patterns and botanical motifs found in Yue Opera costumes. Continuing this theme, I created an additional beaded outer shawl and added 3D-printed magnolia flower pendants. For both the fabric shawl and the magnolia flower pendant, I intentionally utilized Yue Opera's distinctive "intermediate colors." This palette not only reflects the opera's aesthetic but also echoes the traditional Chinese philosophy of moderation.
