Pei-Wen Tsao - MA Fashion Design Technology

My name is Pei-Wen, and I am currently studying for an MA in Fashion Design Technology at Manchester Metropolitan University. I have twelve years of professional experience as a pattern cutter in Taiwan’s fashion industry, with a strong foundation in craftsmanship and garment construction. One of my most impactful roles was at the Taiwanese brand C.R.Y., where I spent eight years developing high-quality, timeless garments. AEROFORM was developed in response to Taiwan’s hot, humid climate, focusing on breathable tailoring that balances comfort, functionality, and distinctive aesthetics. The project employs creative pattern cutting and challenges conventional garment structures, preserving traditional craftsmanship while addressing contemporary needs. I believe that addressing climate change is a shared responsibility among fashion designers—not only to create garments that meet essential lifestyle and functional needs, but also to respond to the environmental challenges brought about by climate instability. These are issues that require collective effort and innovation. My aim is to shape a sustainable fashion future that blends heritage with innovation, creating durable garments.
