Reece Veitch - BA (Hons) Fine Art
Stalker
Reece's practice transcends time through still images of places that embody both character and dynamism, offering a tentative journey through juxtaposition. Their drawings are depicted through a stereoscope lens, which acts as a buffer between the object, the artist, and the audience—introducing a subtle, eerie distortion to traditional realism. This unique approach transforms often-busy locations into “non-places,” devoid of life, while simultaneously creating a voyeuristic perspective by interpreting another artist's studio space. The still life, captured over time, adds a playful and engaging twist to conventional notions, emphasizing stark contrasts in color, space, and shape, all while maintaining the essence of the core subject. Through this method, Reece explores the tension between realism and abstraction, inviting the viewer to experience the subject from an altered yet familiar viewpoint—where the ordinary becomes extraordinary.
