Offstage At the Junction

Offstage At the Junction is my final major project, a proposal which addresses the need for amenities for healthcare staff and aims to promote the well-being of nurses. An offstage, non clinical hub for community and hospital nurses was designed for the host building, The Junction Hotel in Hulme Manchester. The proposal offers nurses a private space with functions that support their daily routine as well as the use of amenities duringoff duty hours. A playful, conceptual scheme was developed with theatrical references and nods to hospitality/ hotel interiors speaking to the building’s history. A space where nurses can unmask, unwind, rebalance and connect.

Having worked for the NHS for several years as a healthcare professional before starting my journey in interior design, it is a purpose that resonated with me personally. The opportunity to work in the health and wellness design sector is an aspiration I would love to achieve.
