InMotion – Commuter-centric garments design

InMotion explores the intersection of formal tailoring and functional outerwear, responding to the microclimate and everyday movement of Manchester commuters. The collection reimagines the tailored jacket through modular transformation—such as a detachable shawl lapel that converts into a chest bag, asymmetrical removable sleeves, and waterproof interlining for sudden rain. Upcycled textiles, including discarded tents and garments, are integrated to highlight sustainability. Motion capture and digital prototyping informed the design process, translating walking, running, and cycling into adaptable silhouettes. These garments aim to support both the physical and social demands of commuting, moving seamlessly between professional spaces and unpredictable urban environments.
