Time2Gather!
With the goal of designing adaptively, I aim to be a flexible designer, allowing me to think out of the box and challenge the norms, striving to use context to shape my projects. My hunger for learning provides me with opportunities to develop and grow through exploration and implementing fresh ideas in my design. Throughout my schooling years and immersion into the interior design discipline, the phrase “The world is my oyster” has carried me throughout; Reminding myself that the discipline has endless knowledge to be gathered, I strive to design with the considerations of the anthropology of everyday life.
In my final major project, I was tasked with coming up with my own self-authored brief, taking into account the context of Stockport where the site was located. Hence: Time2Gather is a proposal for a community-centred environment that is shaped by the rhythms of everyday life, exploring how the behaviour, needs, and activities of the community shift throughout the day, through the cultivation of hobbies. The concept of the spaces in Time2Gather is that they exist without depending on conditions external to the space; The behaviour of the space is shaped by the users of the space, and the behaviour of the users is shaped by the space.
