HS_01

My project (HS_01) draws from Alfred Wainwright’s Far Eastern Fells Pictorial Guide, using his illustration of High Street as a conceptual blueprint. The drawing’s gradients, contour lines, and directional markings form a topographical system that informs silhouette development, seam placement, and material experimentation.

Building on this foundation, the work integrates the visual language of 1980s outdoor apparel, bold colour blocking and geometric seam placement, reinterpreted through a contemporary lens of empowered play.

Responding to the growing demand for performance and leisurewear garments, the collection prioritises comfort, mobility, and technical functionality. HS_01 is constructed using innovative high performance fabrics and techniques engineered for function and ease of movement, ensuring suitability for both active use and the everyday needs of urban living. The aim is to fuse retro outdoor aesthetics with modern performance engineering, translating the logic of the landscape into functional, expressive design for today’s multi purpose wardrobe.

Within my practise, I have developed a key interest in performance garments and the use of innovative non sew technology. Look 1 of my collecton is developed through a creative cutting approach that minimises traditional seam placements and incorporates ultrasonic welding as the main construction technique. My FMP has been nominated for The Sportswear and Leisurewear Award, The Creative Pattern Cutting Award and The Fashion Innovation Award by MFI which has been submitted to Graduate Fashion Foundation.
