Ella Richardson- BA (Hons) Illustration with Animation
Ella Richardson is an animator and model-maker with a strong passion for creating meaningful artwork that brings people joy and encourages reflection on everyday life. She is particularly drawn to the unique effect of stop motion animation, valuing its handcrafted nature and the sense of personality it brings to both characters and storytelling. For Ella, the practical process of building models and animating them frame by frame creates a distinctive charm that cannot be replicated by other art forms.
Although she has only recently begun pursuing stop motion animation in her practice, Ella is enthusiastic about continuing to develop her skills and expand her knowledge of the medium. Her passions primarily lie in character and set building, although she is also keen to develop her animating skills. Her most recent project has expanded her professional knowledge through her research and use of industry-level equipment and techniques.
Most recently, Ella completed her solo short animation, Murmuration. The film explores themes of humanity, nature, mental health, and personal reflection, subjects that are central to her wider artistic practice. Inspired by the collective movement of birds and the connections between people and nature, Murmuration encourages audiences to consider their relationship with both themselves and their surroundings. Through carefully crafted visuals and expressive animation, Ella creates a story and a character which we can all relate to in our own way. As she continues to grow as an artist and animator, she hopes to create further work that explores thought-provoking themes while developing her skills and establishing herself within the industry.
