Glitter Girl Designs is for people with bold looks and even bolder opinions. My work explores maximalism and defies convention. Valuing fashion as an expression of identity and therefore our morals as well. It is important to me for my work to communicate a deeper meaning. Usually within a social or political context.
The post modern era brought around new ideas of art and identity that challenged traditional norms. Taking shape, colour and print inspiration from the Memphis Milano group’s unique glassware collection. This movement promoted radical self expression by defying conformity and embracing inidividual taste. Similar to the queer liberation movement for its aesthetic rebellion and rejection of minimalism.
This collection delves into radical self expression, eccentric dress and using clothing as a form of protest. Continuing to advocate for queer rights which has been consistently threatened throughout history.
