Harini Parthasarathy- MA Graphic Design and Art Direction
Harini Parthasarathy is a photographer, graphic designer and art director whose practice explores representation, cultural identity, everyday life and visibility. Working across photography, graphic design and visual storytelling, she is interested in how images can shape the way people, places and communities are seen.
Her MA project, Politics of Visibility, developed from an archive of over 2,000 photographs made across India. Through research, public responses and visual experimentation, the project evolved from photographic documentation into a layered graphic and spatial investigation of labour, culture, political voice and everyday experiences. Photography, typography, illustration, collage and material experimentation became ways of questioning who is represented, what becomes visible, and whose voices are overlooked.
Alongside her photographic work, Harini has developed graphic campaigns, social media and print design, documentary work and art-directed photography. Her practice is particularly interested in projects where image-making and design work together to create a wider visual narrative or environment.
She hopes to continue developing work across photography, editorial, cultural projects, campaigns, exhibitions and spatial/public-facing design, collaborating with artists, photographers, creative studios and cultural organisations.
