Grow, Gather, Guide: Nature's Colour, a textile exploration
Jayne Plummer is a Sustainable Textiles Educator based in the Peak District, whose work embraces natural dyes, fibres, print and embroidery. Informed by Carbon Literacy Training she challenges norms and assumptions, applying critical understanding of sustainability to inspire. Through engagement with Central England Fibreshed, Jayne contributes to influencing the challenges facing global sustainability.
As an educator and workshop facilitator Jayne holds welcome space for people of all ages and backgrounds offering the benefits of gathering and collaborating as we learn, create, share and broaden knowledge. Art School Commissions selected Jayne to facilitate public workshops in sustainable textiles and natural dye stuffs.
Research often starts with enjoying walks in nature that translate into experiments of natural dyes and colour. Inspired by her allotment and garden to grow and gather resources Jayne is respectful of nature, and carries this into her work, with an awareness that everything is connected.
