Laura Nunn- BA (Hons) Textiles in Practice
Steel City: Woven in Metal
Laura Nunn is a woven textile designer who strives to create fabrics that disrupt the traditional woven grid, utilising technical yarns, unusual materials and burgeoning processes such as 3D Stratasys printing in order to push the limits of a heritage craft into the contemporary.
Laura is fiercely passionate about creating slow, thoughtful and functional textiles which exhibit how a craft with infinite variables can remain cutting-edge in a world that favours disposable attitudes to textiles.
She garners inspiration from an eclectic range of textile designers from The Netherlands and Japan, incorporating elements of traditional textiles processes with the novel. Laura’s research process is integral to the production of her fabrics, through photography, sophisticated colour palette development and material sourcing, each sample is founded on a basis of research and innovation.
